IHMC Software

A huge part our research involves developing state-of-the-art software algorithms and tools. We leverage much of our software for new projects, while writing custom, novel software as needed.

If you have a specific need for advanced robotics control software, contact us, and see if we can help find the solution that’s right for you!

To maximize its effectiveness, we have open sourced much of our software to provide access to resources and knowledge that we have developed over the years for our community of researchers, scientists, engineers and hobbyists in an effort to advance the field of robotics. This includes many packages, algorithms, examples, our control algorithms for walking and manipulation that were used on the Atlas robot in the DARPA Robotics Challenge, and Simulation Construction Set, our cross-platform, in-house simulation library used to develop, simulate, and analyze control algorithms for our robots. Our open-source-software is available under the Apache 2.0 license.

SCS2 is a Graphical user interface for visualizing control variables from either a server, a log file, or a simulation.

JROS2 is a ROS 2 library for Java. Uses Fast-DDS middleware. Fully compatible with other supported ROS 2 DDS middlewares.

Mecano provides algorithms for rigid-body dynamics and a framework to define multi-body systems articulated with joints meant for real-time environment where allocations are not allowed.

Euclid is a general library addressing vector math and geometry problems for geometric applications for real-time environments.
